About this artwork
This painting is part of a series of six plein air works created during a skiing trip in Fanningberg (Austria). Despite the winter conditions, I painted directly from nature, returning each time to the same spot in the forest. Although the viewpoint remained unchanged, the atmosphere and the state of nature were constantly transforming.
Throughout the day, wet snow was falling, wrapping the forest in a shifting veil of mist. The trees would appear… clearly for a moment and then dissolve again into a soft grey haze. This constant movement of air, moisture, and light created an endlessly changing mood.
Using oil paints, I focused on capturing not just the visual landscape, but the emotional state of the moment — the quiet, the cold humidity in the air, the softness of the snow, and the fragile presence of the trees emerging and disappearing in the fog.
It was an intense and fascinating experience to observe how the same place could transform so dramatically within hour
I am a Vienna-based artist originally from Kyiv, Ukraine. Passionate about painting since childhood, I studied at the art school of the Teacher’s House in Kyiv. After a successful career as an economist and banker, I returned to my creative roots, working in watercolor, oil, and later acrylics. Since moving to Austria in 2019, I have honed my skills through private lessons, courses at the Vienna Adult Education Centre (VHS), and online studies with Natalia Nosyk’s art school. My works have been exhibited and recognized in competitions. My art reflects a confident use of color, light, and composition, inspired by nature, seascapes, and still life.
