About this artwork
This painting is part of my alpine plein air series, created during my time in the Austrian mountains. I worked directly from nature, capturing the shifting atmosphere of a winter day — the cool air, distant light, and the quiet rhythm of snow-covered hills.
I focused on broad, expressive brushstrokes and layered oil paint to convey movement within stillness. The mountains dissolve into soft blue and violet tones, while the foreground snow reflects… subtle variations of light. The trees and distant houses appear almost like silhouettes, emphasizing space and depth.
For me, this work is about the feeling of winter calm — not frozen, but alive with color and air. It invites the viewer to pause and breathe in the vastness of the landscape.
I am a Vienna-based artist originally from Kyiv, Ukraine. Passionate about painting since childhood, I studied at the art school of the Teacher’s House in Kyiv. After a successful career as an economist and banker, I returned to my creative roots, working in watercolor, oil, and later acrylics. Since moving to Austria in 2019, I have honed my skills through private lessons, courses at the Vienna Adult Education Centre (VHS), and online studies with Natalia Nosyk’s art school. My works have been exhibited and recognized in competitions. My art reflects a confident use of color, light, and composition, inspired by nature, seascapes, and still life.
