If you follow Isabelle's work, you likely won’t be surprised to read that she absolutely loves color. But every she offers her collectors the simplified palette of black and white. There is visual power in this piece. When there's no "color" to respond to, the focus is on composition, shapes and tone. And black and white asks the artist to think about communicating mood and atmosphere in a totally different way. This piece is “Breathe In”, 12”… x 12” acrylic on birch wood panel, set in a natural maple wood floating frame (it has a companion piece also listed on Singulart called "Breathe Out"). The subtleness you see in the detail photos are achieved by Isabelle’s process of building multiple layers of acrylic paint on a wood panel, then sanding and scratching back into the work to reveal what she calls ‘the history’ of the painting. Her process of layering and sanding adds richness and depth to her paintings. Please see detail photos.
« Beautiful art comes from inspiration. Inspiration comes from being present, from feeling alive. That's what art is for. »
