The artist grew up in a small town in northern Canada. While creating this piece, she remembered how much she welcomed the moonlight when she was a little girl, especially in the winter when the sun set so early. As she does with all of her work, this piece is painted on birch wood panel. Isabelle applies many layers of paint, sanding and scratching back into them to expose what she calls the "history of the painting". When she find something… really beautiful happening she starts to build her design around it. "Midnight Moonlight" is 16" x 16" acrylic. There are two small paper elements collaged on this piece. And as with all of her work, you'll find a small crown hidden, barely noticable, but it's there. Midnight Moonlight is finished with a thin layer of cold wax to reduce the glare of art lights, and set in a natural, raw maple wood gallery quality frame. Please see additional images for close up details and examples of this piece in different settings.
« Beautiful art comes from inspiration. Inspiration comes from being present, from feeling alive. That's what art is for. »
