About this artwork
Don't be fooled by the title: there's no political nostalgia here, on the contrary...
I just wanted to point out how that stubborn and praised pride sometimes takes every human being by surprise.
The work STILE DUCE, like much of my pictorial research between 2009 and 2020, stems from a realistic element that is then reinterpreted in a personal way. The lack of a closed outline suggests that every human being is in a state of evolution, not only… in character but also in body. We transform through external stimuli and release other stimuli into the outside world. This is why I use white in my background: if in physics it is the sum of several colors that creates light, in painting it is symbolically the totality of possibilities from which we can draw to decide, willingly or not, who we will be.
Iva Recchia uses oil, acrylic, and mixed media on canvas, canvas panels, and paper, drawing on a solid academic background in Verona and Venice and international experience. Her technique explores a dynamic figurative style, in which reality and abstraction intermingle through frayed forms and bold colors; subject and background blur, evoking the elusiveness of existence. Her works convey a profound poetic tension between beauty and disintegration, inviting the viewer to reflect on the harmony and contradictions of human nature.
