About this artwork
I remember clearly in 2019 walking around my neighbourhood in Prenzlauerberg, Berlin and stepping into a gallery where I fell into a conversation with the owner. Our follow-up conversations dragged out but in the end she commissioned me with two canvases that were meant to take us to California. At the time the MoFo (my hybrid morphed fusion concept of half-man half photo-making device) was taking a grip on me. I remember clearly trying to engage…
this ''character'' into some sort of dramaturgy. It didn't take too long for me to light up with the 'smart-phone' fetish. In this piece the characters are burning up in the glorious moment of the Selfie. I don't know how the title came up, but maybe it had to do with being really badly stoned - on cheap narcissus-dope.
