About this artwork
A walk in the forest inspired this painting. When I enter a woods, I slow down and breathe in the air, subtle smells and the quiet peace that settles in my chest. For me, the walk isn't about getting somewhere. It is about feeling the profound magnificence of such a place.
In this painting, I used tools in addition to brushes. Scrapers, squeegees and wiping with a towel to achieve an array of marks and textures. I don't try to paint the exact look… of the place, but instead, I'm searching for the essence of the trees, the way they stand so tall, enduring through winters and storms, the way they simply exist, as they have for a million years in this mountain forest.
