About this artwork
"Isolation" 90x90cm polyptych of 9 pieces of 30x30cm, mixed media on canvas.
ISOLATION (nine letters word) has been distributed on the 9 canvases by following SUDOKU rule. Which means that every single sqare, every single row and every column contains these 9 letters without repeting it. O and I that are contained twice in this word are marked once in a black color and once in silver to maintain the rule of no repeating. Although there's no repeating… in this rule, this patern can be repeated uncounted times, creating an endless loop. I wasn't solving this, I was only following the pattern and copying it. You only have to understand the pattern and to know how to count from 1 to 9.
This work is suggesting a relation to the construct that we are living in, not only now but constantly. We learn the pattern and we are repeating, repeating... Recommended music background (that was listened while creating it) "Welcome to The Machine" Pink Floyd

Icelandic painter Jelena Antic's work has been exhibited throughout Serbia, Iceland, and the United States. Antic works in acrylic and sometimes spray paint to create series inspired by subjects ranging from the Icelandic glacial rivers to metaphysics. Antic paints very quickly, so she often works in diptychs so she can continue working on the same idea while the paint of the first work dries. Antic's works are bright, conceptual, and often involve abstract patterns.
