About this artwork
Parade presents a procession of costumed characters depicting faces from popular culture who move before the viewer like an absurd parade. Between the comical and the disturbing, the work contrasts the naiveté of the costume with the vulnerability of the bodies that support it.
The piece questions the place of the contemporary artist: part spectacle, part resistance, always hidden behind masks that simultaneously draw them closer and distance them… from the public. Parade thus becomes a metaphor for exposure and the fragility of those who seek to make themselves visible in a world saturated with images.
