The Tertulia is a work that represents those encounters between artists that, seemingly, bring us together, but also confront us with our uniqueness. In it, I place myself among creative peers—on the edge of the conversation, invisible or on the sidelines—underscoring that sense of isolation and difference we often experience in spaces of artistic camaraderie.
The title refers to the tradition of group painting, such as Henri Fantin-Latour's emblematic… A Studio at Les Batignolles (1870), which portrays the avant-garde gathered around Édouard Manet. My piece plays with that heritage and subverts it: the scene evokes a classical room or an intimate salon, but my blurred presence accentuates the distance that sometimes marks the link between the collective and the individual.
In its almost theatrical atmosphere, this work proposes a reflection on belonging, anonymity, and the role of the artist in the community: is being part also being an other?
Jesús Azogue is a transmedia artist trained in Seville and Brussels who fuses installation, digital art, and technological research. His works employ hybrid techniques such as drawing, digital sculpture, extended reality, and artificial intelligence, creating interactive installations and immersive experiences. He alternates technological precision with poetic approaches to explore the relationship between the human and the artificial. His works invite reflection, seeking to awaken deep questions and emotions about identity, memory, and our presence in an ever-changing digital world.
