The Iron Lady of Paris, better known as the Eiffel Tower, was an unloved child of the Parisian people when it was built for the World Exhibition in 1887. The Parisians found the tower repulsive and ugly, and many would have liked to shoot it to the moon.
Over time, however, perceptions changed and the Eiffel Tower became a symbol of the city, indeed of the entire nation. This metamorphosis and the changing feelings that Parisians had about the tower… inspired the following image, taken in front of the Trocadero water cannons.
This photo is not only a tribute to the Iron Lady herself, but also to the changing emotions she has evoked over the years. It is an image of change, acceptance and ultimately love.
Joachim Bergauer is an internationally acclaimed photographer with a multifaceted, sophisticated style that straddles contemporary art and fashion photography. A surrealist visionary with classical training in fine art, he understands how to merge photography and graphic design into unique works. His minimalist color and black-and-white compositions are reminiscent of the great art movements of the 20th century, influenced by Fauvism, Conceptual Art, and Minimalism. Bergauer experiments with new aesthetic concepts, explores boundaries, and creates works of great inner power. Color and form become carriers of emotion and meaning—graphically clear, metaphorically condensed, stylistically pointed. His visual language combines avant-garde approaches with harmoniously balanced compositions. With over 100 international awards—including "Photographer of the Year" (Japan)—Joachim Bergauer is one of Europe's leading photographers.
