About this artwork
'Family' is a group portrait showcasing the artist in the company of her husband, Jarek and their two cats: Sumo and Mia. Joanna focuses her work on a very intimate environment by sharing a moment of everyday life in her home studio. Pilarczyk is inspired by the specific atmosphere of the day, the warm light of the afternoon sun and vibrant colours. She tells a story about her relationship with her partner -Jarek Radecki, who is also an artist and… who shares her love for figurative art. Their beloved two cats, always present in the room with plants and flowers, are essential family members.
The artist experimented with the fluorescent colour palette and complex composition.
