Access Code II is part of Joanna Szumska’s Avatary series exploring the transformation of identity in the age of digital systems.
The composition presents two female profiles positioned back to back: one connected to nature, adorned with magnolia flowers, and the other transformed into a technological avatar built from mechanical structures and engineered forms. The image becomes a visual metaphor for the coexistence of biological consciousness… and algorithmic infrastructure.
The golden circular form behind the figures evokes both a halo and a symbolic gateway, suggesting a threshold between two dimensions of identity. Rather than portraying conflict, the painting reflects a moment of transition — a state in which human awareness evolves through the interaction of intuition, memory, and technology.
