About this artwork
This sculpture was created out of raspberry alabaster which was quarried in Utah. The original boulder was over three thousand pounds. I usually prefer to start with large boulders and then cut them into smaller sizes depending on the creation I have in mind. This also gives me choices of colorations of the stone because one boulder may have several variations in color.
My original concept for this sculpture was something that would be round and… flowing. As I worked on the stone several ideas evolved and the final direction of my thoughts created a swirling involuted flowing round design.
The final result was a sculpture which I titled, “Involution”
