About this artwork
This image was created using a triple layered image of the same subject taken from differing angles and viewpoints tp explore the shape and texture of the foliage revealed by the sun creating translucency of the leaves. The overlaying to the layers then creates an interesting and exciting abstract form while retaining the identity of the subject.
The print is made onto cotton paper which accurately reproduces the delicate tonal range of the various… shades of colour and the translucent effect with a matt finish thereby eliminating any chance of reflection.

« My work always reflects an emotional response to the subject matter. This is essential in the creation of any piece of art and without that it becomes merely a pictorial photograph. »
John Brooks is a British visual artist who is currently living and working in Bristol, UK. Through his photography, Brooks wishes to project a visual and emotional response that extends far beyond the pictorial. His photographs, both analogue and digital, often employ a layering affect where a subject becomes doubled or tripled, thereby creating an illusion of volume, depth and spatiality. His photographs can reflect the imposing nature of urbanism and play with perspective to create an illusory world.
His other works include well though through abstract studies and minimalist works, some architectural and some topographical.
