About this artwork
This image derives from my earlier work of a study of the north Norfolk coastal area of Wells-next-the-Sea when the tide was out, which exposed the sandbanks and shallow waters remaining. The sky above also reflected in the shallow water. The original image was captured with analogue equipment and subsequently digitized.
My re-interpretation of the image intends to convey the expansive landscape which has a feeling of infinite size produced by the… horizontal rectilinear form of the subject matter now intentionally exaggerated, along with a slight softening of the lighting so as not to overwhelm the viewer by the large size of the final image.
The end product will lend a tranquil and peaceful aura to any setting and assist in a contemplative mood when desired.
The additional image is the original analogue from which the abstraction was derived.
