DRYING-SHIPS LATE AUGUST/EARLY SEPTEMBER 2023
Another work dedicated to the furry love of my life, Frankie the Frenchie, who passed away all too soon. I used to walk him through the woods up north, and at home via local neighborhoods, parks and often along the gardens of the golf club next door looking for painting spots. He never required a leash as he always walked right next to me and tended to pee on the good spots for some reason. Maybe he… was an art critic in another life. These beautiful memories of mine are why there is so much joy, love and life in this work. it is a tactile imagination of another great day together and a celebration of our countless adventures together.
The composition comprises of two intersecting groups of wildflowers growing on a small rise in soft, harmonic beauty. The color is as bright as the day was sunny, and the movement is progressive yet gentle as the breezes blew softly. Nature gave me a gift that day, and it was perfect.
« Either way, my message for the viewer is simple. Enjoy my work for its visual elements. Experience the excitement of the micro, macro, and then the subliminal. Rinse and repeat. »
Jon Parlangeli is a passionate American painter and sculptor who has widely exhibited his work throughout the U.S. Fascinated by the process of creation, he composes works that experiment with color and the physicality of paint. Parlangeli's creations stand out for their depth and tactility, appearing as explosions of bright color and unexpected shapes. Parlangeli additionally includes a representational balance of nature and humanity in his work, that merges with abstract elements to create a kind of historic bibliophile hidden in the paint.
