About this artwork
"Art in Sculpture" is a work that marks the beginning of a new stage for the painter, an exploration within what he himself called "Classical Series." On this canvas a unique sculpture emerges: a headless angel, adopting the posture of the classic contraposto, its right arm resting on another figure that is integrated into the sculptural ensemble, while its left arm appears amputated.
The painter decides to wrap this figure in a color palette of… red tones, playing with earth shadows and luminous ocher lights. On the surface of the painting, an original composition of squares captures attention, each of them inscribed with a letter. These letters form the phrase "Art in Sculpture", thus giving title and meaning to the work. This detail reveals a deep tribute by the artist to classical sculpture, hinting at an intrinsic connection between painting and the sculpture's three-dimensionality.
