About this artwork
This work is a kind of homage to the city of Santander. The blue and green that captivated the painter on the various visits he made to this city, located in the north of Spain.
In this diptych, the painter shows us two columns as the only protagonists of this work. The work is conceived as a diptych and each column occupies its own space. These columns belong to the Palacio de la Magdalena. The painter plays with these architectures and dyes them… at will with these two colors, emblematic for him in the landscape of this place. It is a very calm work that has taken several years to finish where an important set of textures have been gaining presence and highlighted with multiple glazes that give this work a very special finish. It is a solemn work, a magical light floods the columns from the front and leaves a mysterious shadow in the background. It is a work to contemplate from nature since photography fails to capture the infinity of nuances it contains.
