About this artwork
This is the second work I made upon arriving in the United States from Cuba. It was my first interaction with new working materials, and it is significantly important to me.
Like the other works in this series, it shows an emotional cartography of the landscape, visualized from above, where diagonal and horizontal lines are noticeable as if they were roads or territorial boundaries. The denser or darker areas could suggest urban centers, or a human… scar caused by mining or environmental pollution.

Julio Cesar Cepeda Duque is a painter, draftsman, printmaker, and sculptor, trained at the Samuel Feijóo Professional Art School in Cuba, with extensive experience in the art community.
