About this artwork
Let's Stop
I have always had a fond spot in my heart for the pesky mosquito ever since a trip to Sanibel Island and saw the paradise of birds and nature living because of abundance of mosquitos. This piece was created in part over my frustration of how we control them, not so much that we control them. It's an abstract painting with crayon and collage of the chaos of mosquitos and all they represent, including sustenance for so many fish and birds.… A homage of sorts. A call to stop spraying toxic chemicals and start more humane and sustainable practices.
This multi-media painting is on 100% cotton rag paper and mounted to a custom birch wooden cradle board with wire hangers in place. Sides of the cradle board are painted in dark mica grey.
