About this artwork
I love spending time in Venice and there are certain iconic subjects to be found there. In this case it is Gondolas merged in a Multiple Exposure (ME) photograph with another Venice icon, the handle on top of the water source in the centre of many a piazza. The curly shape appeals to me and the colours blend in a fascinating way with the many gondolas parked nearby. The acrylic feature adds to the vibrant colours, which are always fascinating in… ME work. Often colours emerge which are not visible to the naked eye.
Fleeting in the title refers both to the fleet of gondolas and to the momentary nature of Multiple exposure which can rarely be repeated exactly, especially with subjects which are moving , as with gondolas which bob gently in the water, even when tied up for the night.
Kate Lloyd is a photographer trained under acclaimed artists, most notably Jonathan Chritchley of Ocean Capture. She employs abstract and verismo styles, using multiple exposures to transform images of horses, water, and Venetian scenes into vibrant compositions, often presented as acrylics or luxury silk scarves. Her work radiates a profound appreciation for the untamed spirit of horses and the luminous mystery of water, evoking both tranquility and wonder.
