This semi-abstract linocut marks a turning point in my artistic journey — the first work created after choosing to dedicate myself truly to life as a professional artist. It captures the inner dialogue between fear and freedom, and the courage it takes to trust intuition as both guide and material.
Carved in natural linoleum and hand-pulled with oil-based ink, each impression is unique. Through a personal technique of wiping away parts of the ink… before printing, I create subtle variations in tone and depth, allowing light and space to emerge within the image. The colours blend in organic transitions, resembling a painting, and give each print its own distinctive atmosphere and emotional resonance.
The composition unfolds through organic lines and fluid gestures — a visual echo of the shift from hesitation to trust, from control to release. Part of an expandable series, every print carries its own spirit. Commissioned pieces in a preferred colour range are available and welcome.
Kaya Heyman is a painter and printmaker with a foundation in architecture, working intuitively across drawing, painting, and linocut printmaking. She explores abstraction and symbolism, layering inks and mixed media with expressive, meditative techniques that allow intuition and subconscious imagery to surface. Her art embodies the cycles of transformation in the natural world and seeks to awaken personal reflection, wonder, and a sense of inner renewal in her viewers.
