About this artwork
This was a moment in Monte Albán, Mexico that felt so clear, so still, it demanded to be documented. I noticed him from a distance. He was resting quietly, taking a break from trying to find someone who might see the treasures he carried in his backpack.

This image is one of my favorite works. It captures not only a scene, but also a pause within the chaos, a moment of reflection surrounded by the vastness of time and the history of a place so sacred.

Credentials
- Works on commission
Kyla Johnk is a painter, photographer, and printmaker with a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art who has exhibited internationally in Madrid and San Francisco. She masterfully blends mediums, often merging nature-inspired images with inventive uses of texture, color, and abstract light, as seen in her series utilizing tin foil and reflected light. Her close-up, movement-driven compositions explore overlooked patterns and forms, inviting the viewer to feel suspended in time. It is an invitation to pause, to observe, and to see a moment close up.
