A wooden collage, painted with acrylics and inspired by Mussorgsky's orchestral suite "Pictures at an Exhibition." The music portrays a chariot that laboriously advances onto the stage and then exits with a progressive diminuendo, leaving behind the heavy, sonorous echo of its passage. The melody is entrusted to the tuba, accompanied by the lower instruments, with a strong contribution from the percussion in an ostinato rhythm. My visual simplification… is a sunset in the vast Russian countryside with spirals in the center indicating the movement of the chariot. The colors were determined as follows: from dark purple-red for the woodwinds to a lighter one for the string ensemble with woodwinds, orange for the deep sounds of the tubas, yellow for the trumpets, cobalt blue for the cello, and red and phthalo blue for the strong, deep sounds of the percussion, trombones, and tubas. The entire composition No. 36 is a visual reinterpretation of the suite. You can see the video 'Composition No. 36'.
Lino Spada is a self-taught artist who expresses his passion for art through painting, drawing, and sculpture. He uses innovative techniques such as wood collage to create sculpture-paintings where shapes and colors highlight the lines. He has a A unique way of combining painting, collage, and sculpture to create dynamic and expressive pieces! The works in the RITMI series are a prime example: a translation of sound into shapes and colors! The sculptures, on the other hand, are inspired by late-nineteenth-century Italian peasant culture and the ancient symbols of the Samnites. These essential works evoke a delicate relationship between man and nature, awakening a subtle emotionality and an intimate, dreamlike dimension. He uses traditional materials such as wood, iron, and stone, often recycled and treated to restore their original value.
