About this artwork
The Enchanted Room, a painting I created using an unpublished and never painted sketch by G. De Chirico, a drawing that is most likely the first of a long series, which he executed immediately after his arrival in Ferrara, presumably in the summer-autumn of 1915, when he was assigned to the Piastrini Barracks, he was a private but with the appointment of clerk; the evidence of his permanence in grey-green uniform, at the beginning, can be traced… back to the presence of some particular details, which recall objects used in military barracks, such as the board with the insignia of the non-commissioned officers and the flag in the middle of the field. This too is a very rare drawing, as well as unpublished, which has only recently appeared in some monographs of De Chirico.
Luciano Vannoni is a painter and graduate of the Liceo Artistico Mengaroni, with a multifaceted background in drawing, ceramics, sculpture, and painting, and an expert in oil painting. He employs a meticulous and refined technique, inspired by the metaphysical style of De Chirico, recreating previously unseen sketches with almost scribe-like precision and a profound chromatic alchemy. His works evoke a different, highly introspective reality, inviting the viewer to rediscover the mystery and wonder hidden within the ordinary.
