About this artwork
This work is one of my recent additions to my “ripping lines“ series. It is made using acrylic ink and acrylic paint. This series is concerned with exploring a couple of different subjects and ideas. One is letting process guide my studio time instead of fretting about what I’m going to paint. And so the repetitive lines, inspired by the artist Sol Lewitt, offer away into the creation of the work. The other mechanism that I explore here is the idea…
of entropy, inspired by my obsession with cracks in the sidewalk. So I combine several sheets of paper and then rip them up and unpredictable and sometimes controlled ways. And I simply keep going until I am satisfied that the peace conveys something like Balance.
