This large cloudscape was created using long exposure photography to gently blur the edges of sky, sea, and light. It captures a powerful, soaring moment—when a vast white snowcloud rose like wings over the teal-blue waters of the Hebridean coast.
I remember the hush in the air that day and the breeze as I stood on the top of a cliff near my studio. The light was pale and clear, and this single cloud, shaped like a pair of great wings, seemed to… lift from the sea itself.
Working with long exposure allows me to paint with time—softening motion and capturing the mood rather than the detail. The image holds both energy and calm, and I’ve chosen a gentle palette of sea-glass teal, silvery white, and soft blue to keep the feeling airy and serene.
Though dramatic in scale, this piece has a peaceful presence and fits beautifully into minimalist, coastal, or contemplative spaces.
There is a stillness at the heart of Lynne’s work—a reverence for atmosphere, for the fleeting and the eternal, held in delicate balance.
Working between fine art photography and abstract painting, her practice is rooted in the elemental language of sea, sky, and stone. Drawing deeply from the wild coastlines of the Scottish Highlands and islands, she creates pieces that feel both vast and intimate—quiet studies of light, movement, and memory. Each work is an invitation to pause, to breathe, and to return to something older than ourselves.
Her large-scale photographic works are known for their immersive quality—expanses of soft cloud, shifting water, and distant horizons rendered with a painter’s sensitivity. There is a timelessness to the process—layer upon layer, patiently built, finished with luminous resin that holds light
