About this artwork
The subject of the work, made using paper-based collage and tempera, is a simplified human head. The form is almost symbolic: its distinct contours are closed, while the neutral gray tone of the background lends the head a restrained, objective presence that functions as a general human sign. The composition is built on the duality of the hidden and the visible, the controlled form and the free gesture, where the vibration of the background subtly undermines the apparent calm of the head.
