The paper-based work is centered on a stylized head shape, the surface of which is highlighted by painterly gestural brushstrokes of brown broken with white. The shape appears both closed and permeable: its contours are disciplined, while the painterly treatment loosens its rigor. On one outer side of the head, a colorful light brown, flaming zigzag surface filled in with pencil appears, as if as an accompanying shadow. This motif is repeated in… the upper right part of the picture, turned upside down, slipping out of the secure framework of the contour. This displacement foreshadows a subtle but significant change: the form steps out of its own boundaries and begins to transform. The composition is built on a dynamic system of straight, curved, and irregular lines, where the simultaneous presence of order and disintegration creates the inner tension of the picture.
Márta Nyilas is a painter with a deep academic background, trained at prestigious institutions and mentored by Ilona Keserü, exploring oil and mixed media on canvas. Her technique hovers delicately between figuration and abstraction, merging lyrical brushwork, narrative tendencies, and a rhythmic interplay of forms and colors that evoke archetypal scenes in contemporary guise. She invites viewers into realms of transformation, tension, and emotional immediacy, cultivating a melancholic yet dynamic atmosphere that prompts each person to interpret and feel their own story.
