About this artwork
This summer I heard on the radio the story of how this piece of art (the Nebra Sky Disc), dating back to the Bronze Age, 3,600 years ago, was discovered. It seemed like a fascinating coincidence, so out of curiosity I looked up an image of it and was captivated by what I saw. It seems like a wink from another era, conveying optimism and good vibes, almost like an emoticon, to an increasingly divided society. I couldn't resist painting it, framing…
it in the center of a vertical rhombus that symbolizes the connection between the physical and spiritual planes, uniting heaven and earth between the two points and fostering that mental balance we so desperately need.
