About this artwork
THE SMILE is one of the sculptures from the TOMORROW series composed of 4 distinct pieces. It is a very graphic piece, with clean lines, made of solid oak. The textured surface, very tactile, was calcined then waxed. This surface really catches the light. The presence of this piece is simple, soft and sober. It expresses a quiet joy, a serene gaiety. It could be a face, maybe.
Depending on the lighting, its lines and contours cast their shadows… on the surrounding walls.
Presented on a raw steel plinth, 42.5 x 9 cm, "LE SOURIRE" can also be hung on a wall like a canvas.
