About this artwork
This painting, which was part of my personal collection, has never been exhibited before.
The subject: After many often harsh and dramatic trials, after wandering sometimes for years, the moment has come when life resumes its course. Lives are built, meet, and intertwine; pleasures are shared. It is these journeys, these slices of life, that this painting invites us to witness.
The eye wanders and discovers.
Rich with these depicted moments of… life, this painting remains true to the central theme of the "PASSERSBY" series. This series is rather private due to its figurative style, which contrasts sharply with my usual, generally abstract work.
The colors are resolutely vibrant; it's about warding off bad luck and "placing garlands on the ruins of houses." Like a defiant gesture against fate, it's a celebration of Life, which, whatever happens, will always have the last word. This painting is meant to be framed under glass, with or without a frame, with or without a mat.
