About this artwork
For me, "Pont Alexandre III" depicts Paris at a moment of transition. The sun has already disappeared, but night has not yet fully taken hold of the city. In this blue hour, the bridge's lights ignite like a string of tiny suns, warming the sky and bathing the stone monument in a soft gold.
What interests me here is less the postcard view than the feeling of an urban in-between: the day with its noise fades away, the night with its promises already… awaits in the darkness behind the lampposts. The bridge becomes the stage for this transformation, a luminous footbridge between everyday life and nightlife. In its light, movement, anticipation, and a touch of melancholy converge – an image of the modern, nocturnal feeling of life.

Marcel van Beek works with photography, painting, and graphic design, drawing on his artistic background from his studies at the Alanus University of Art and Social Sciences.
