About this artwork
In my photographic work, I devote myself with great dedication to reflections on water surfaces. This creates atmospheric and poetic, yet sometimes darker and contemplative scenes of urban landscapes.
I capture the fleeting moments in which water becomes a stage for fascinating reflections. My photographs combine aesthetic beauty with profound symbolism, exploring the fragile boundary between reality and reflection.

Marcel van Beek works with photography, painting, and graphic design and holds a degree with honors from Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences. His technique combines pictorialist influences with a romantic-symbolist visual language. His photographs embody contemporary fine art photography and conceptual photography, often featuring monochrome recolored works that have received numerous international awards.
He creates a poetic visual language interested in forms and structures, combining this with a modern, conceptual approach that claims social relevance. In his work, he explores inner and outer landscapes, conveying feelings of longing and threat, as well as a fascination with the hidden. He has published several art books (most recently "World of Water," 2025), which are represented in international academy and museum libraries (including Vienna, Basel, and Minneapolis).
