About this artwork
The painting was inspired by a photo of an intense gaze between him and her that I loved at first sight; when I received the invitation to paint a picture dedicated to the "muses," I immediately thought the image was the perfect starting point.
After some preliminary studies, I decided to use one of Mike Malm's angels, which have always fascinated me, as a background, combining the clear and detailed foreground with a graphic, highly stylized, almost… abstract background. The angel's silhouette becomes a sort of shadow and soul of the blonde muse, bearer of light and inspiration.
As the painting progressed, it revealed itself to represent a broad, powerful metaphor for love and union, understanding but also consolation. The sweet, long-haired blonde figure is a sort of consoling angel. I hope everyone can recognize an episode from their own life in it.
