About this artwork
This place is featured in the beautiful Chateau de Orquevaux where I had the honor of spending my first artist residency. This castle in the french countryside has so much history, plus being surrounded by so many other artists the inspiration and positive energy was overflowing. This room was a place of gathering and friendship. I learned new art business techniques, the art of intuitive photography, took a figure drawing class, and even watched… The Princess Diaries with my new friends. The timeless ornate warm feeling this room had to offer made me feel as if I was home, while still making me feel like I was living in a fairytale dream. This drawing is the perfect window to take you right into the heart of a beautiful french castle, while hanging in your home.
A graduate of West Virginia University, Maria Deely masterfully employs color pencils to create stunning photorealistic drawings. Her style encapsulates an appreciation of the world around her, reflecting intimate, immersive experiences of different cultures and landscapes. Deely's pieces convey a profound sense of stillness, urging viewers to bask in the evoked warmth, beauty and intricate diversity of our world despite her battle with chronic illness.
