About this artwork
In this painting, I work with a thick layer of minerals, including sand and marble dust. The surface is tactile, almost relief-like – rough, earthy, with small fractures and densities. The light catches in the irregularities, giving the surface a vibrant appearance.
On top of it rests a small, abstract bouquet of flowers. It appears almost fragile in relation to the powerful, mineral base. The blossoms are delicately placed, some only suggested.… I colored some of the leaves with oil pastels – their velvety depth stands in deliberate contrast to the grainy, heavy texture beneath.
The background shimmers in bluish-green tones. These cool nuances create a calm, almost breathing surface from which the bouquet unfolds. The frame, on the other hand, is magenta with a hint of orange. This creates a vibrant tension at the edge – a warmth that draws the eye back into the center of the image.
