About this artwork
When I started this painting, I didn’t know what it would become. I simply followed the colors, the movements, and let the canvas guide me. Then, little by little, something familiar began to appear — soft shapes, floating forms — and suddenly I could see them. Beautiful nénuphars.
In that moment, my thoughts went straight to Monet, a painter I deeply admire. I felt his spirit in the work, as if the water lilies were quietly finding their way into… my painting on their own. What began as pure abstraction became a windy day full of life and flowers, drifting like a dream across the water.

Marie Manon Corbeil began to paint amidst personal challenges:‘Between sadness and hope, there was art’. Realizing that life’s difficulties provided her with a new means of expression, Corbeil wants to convey a sense of joy within her contemporary abstract works. She draws forms and writes positive words under each canvas before beginning a piece. Employing large brushes to provoke unplanned strokes, she also uses her fingers to optimize the vibrant colors in her compositions.
