About this artwork
In Claim 161, the color red is central for me. I work with its intensity, its warmth, and its emotional directness. On the 100 × 120 cm format, a vertically structured pictorial space emerges in which shades of red intensify and begin to move.
The paint is poured, sprayed, and built up in multiple layers. I deliberately allow it to flow and react to gravity. At the same time, I intervene to guide the process, so that spontaneous marks merge with… controlled decisions. This creates a tension between free movement and compositional clarity.
In the lower section, the layers of color coalesce into a powerful, almost glowing zone, while the upper part opens up more easily. This contrast particularly interests me: grounding and expansiveness, intensity and openness.
