About this artwork
MY VISION This work captures a moment of quiet introspection with muse Am Montoya. The composition is a study in textures: the softness of the skin, the curve of the spine, and the plush grain of the chair. I aimed to translate a modern digital capture into a timeless physical object, bridging 21st-century clarity with 19th-century soul.
MY PROCESS: PAINTING WITH LIGHT This is not a standard inkjet print. It is a rare Platinum/Palladium print, a… handmade process using noble metals. I hand-coat 100% cotton paper with a light-sensitive emulsion of platinum and palladium salts.
THE OBJECT The image is embedded inside the paper fibers, creating a matte, velvety surface that echoes the textures within the photograph itself. With deep, open shadows and subtle highlights, this archival work will not fade for centuries.
Framed behind shatter-resistant, gallery-quality acrylic (Plexiglass), which offers superior clarity to standard glass and ensures 100% safety during shipping.
My artistic practice is the result of a lifelong dialogue with visual structure. After graduating from RISD and spending over three decades as a Design Director for institutions like Harry N. Abrams, Oxford University Press, and Random House, I understand the mechanics of any image—composition, balance, and the hierarchy of visual information.
For my digital print-on-demand works, I maintain a strict 'Studio Stopover' protocol to ensure museum-grade quality. Unlike standard print-on-demand services, these pieces are first shipped to my Connecticut studio for personal inspection.
Each work is examined for color fidelity, hand-signed, and numbered by me personally. I then assemble a custom 'Care Kit' for the collector, including a detailed explanation of the work and a Certificate of Authenticity.
This meticulous process adds approximately 7–10 days to the delivery timeline, but it ensures that the work you receive meets the highest professional standards of the fine art market.
