About this artwork
THE VISION In Farm Gate (Printed July 2021), I focused on the quiet architecture of the rural landscape. The weathered wood and wind-swept grasses offer a study in organic texture. My goal was to capture the silent dignity of this boundary, using the platinum process to render the intricate details of grain and grass blade with a depth that digital photography often flattens.
THE OBJECT The image is embedded inside the paper fibers, not sitting… on top like ink. This creates a matte, velvety finish, with deep, rich shadows, while the highlights retain a luminous softness. Chemically stable and archival, this museum-quality work will not fade.
This is not a standard digital print. It is a rare Platinum/Palladium print, a handmade physical object created using noble metals. I hand-coat 100% cotton paper with a light-sensitive emulsion of platinum and palladium salts. Framed behind shatter-resistant, gallery-quality acrylic (Plexiglass) for superior clarity and 100% shipping safety.
My artistic practice is the result of a lifelong dialogue with visual structure. After graduating from RISD and spending over three decades as a Design Director for institutions like Harry N. Abrams, Oxford University Press, and Random House, I understand the mechanics of any image—composition, balance, and the hierarchy of visual information.
For my digital print-on-demand works, I maintain a strict 'Studio Stopover' protocol to ensure museum-grade quality. Unlike standard print-on-demand services, these pieces are first shipped to my Connecticut studio for personal inspection.
Each work is examined for color fidelity, hand-signed, and numbered by me personally. I then assemble a custom 'Care Kit' for the collector, including a detailed explanation of the work and a Certificate of Authenticity.
This meticulous process adds approximately 7–10 days to the delivery timeline, but it ensures that the work you receive meets the highest professional standards of the fine art market.
