About this artwork
THE VISION In Check Mate (2017), I explored the tension between geometry and biology. By projecting a rigid checkerboard pattern onto the organic form of muse Mariya Dimov, I sought to deconstruct the figure's natural curves. The spinal twist yoga pose creates a sculptural landscape where light wraps around muscle, anchored by the model’s gaze, which is serendipitously framed in a band of pure light.
This print is produced using the specialized,… nearly continuous-tone Piezography® process. I personally print each one on my rebuilt 8-color Epson, which utilizes seven black inks to achieve unparalleled tonal range and richness, reminiscent of traditional darkroom prints. This results in incredibly subtle transitions and deep blacks, capturing the nuanced atmosphere of the original moment.
This print is offered as a limited edition of 25, signed, numbered, and has a Certificate of Authenticity. It is printed on 100% rag, acid-free baryta paper for maximum archival quality.

For my digital print-on-demand works, I maintain a strict 'Studio Stopover' protocol to ensure museum-grade quality. Unlike standard print-on-demand services, these pieces are first shipped to my Connecticut studio for personal inspection.
Each work is examined for color fidelity, hand-signed, and numbered by me personally. I then assemble a custom 'Care Kit' for the collector, including a detailed explanation of the work and a Certificate of Authenticity.
This meticulous process adds approximately 7–10 days to the delivery timeline, but it ensures that the work you receive meets the highest professional standards of the fine art market.
