Crash is a crumpled aluminium panel hand made by the artist. The 'tension' in the sculpture is created by Maxwell manipulating the metal without machinery or tools. In this installation the artwork is suspended by steel cables, although appearing voluminous and heavy the sculpture is actually very light. The contradiction continues as it resembles the distortion found in the bodywork of a car wreckage, however its pristine surface and lack of paint… and lacquer reveals a different story. In crafting this piece, I embraced the chaos and reflection inherent in aluminum. My goal was to create an energetic installation that mirrors the tumultuous, yet strikingly beautiful, facets of life. Positioned as an outdoor or wall object, it dynamically interacts with its surroundings, casting shifting reflections and shadows that transform with the light. This artwork is not just about observing beauty, but about bringing a sense of lively interaction and contemplative dynamism into one's space.
« I am very interested in the alchemical process and the manipulation of materials to transform from one aesthetic to another. »
