Solitude I is a large mixed media artwork. There is a specific process involved in creating the work and causing the cracks and fissures to appear at different areas on the surface of the artwork. A deep black wooden frame surrounds the artwork to create a strong contrast between the white surface and the surrounding wall. It also offers an historical reference to the framed works of the 'Old Masters'...whereby their paintings often revealed cracks… within the oil paint on their surfaces. In creating this minimalist, abstract piece using acrylics, I sought to explore the profound depths of solitude and the textures of time. The subtle, earth-toned fracture lines gently scatters across the foam surface, symbolizing a threshold between the tangible and metaphysical realms. This artwork invites contemplation and introspection, adding a serene and thoughtful energy to any space it occupies. It embodies the quiet moments of self-reflection and the beauty of stillness.
« I am very interested in the alchemical process and the manipulation of materials to transform from one aesthetic to another. »
