About this artwork
Velvet Underground came from my love of the city—its edges, its rhythm, its beautifully worn surfaces. I worked the plaster and paint like concrete and steel, building layers that feel architectural, raw, and alive. The metallic elements remind me of streetlights flashing on wet pavement, subway rails humming, and the quiet electricity of urban nights. I wanted to show the beauty that hides in places most people overlook—the kind that’s earned, not…
polished. For me, this piece is the pulse of the city itself: gritty, elegant, unfiltered, and full of soul.

I was born in Germany and now divide my time between California’s Sequoia National Forest and the rolling hills of Umbria, Italy. I have been creating for as long as I can remember and was rarely without a pencil, crayon, or paintbrush in my hand as a child. Although life eventually led me to build and run a successful company and later become an author, creativity has always been my true north. After decades of writing about authenticity, healing, and personal transformation, I now explore many of the same themes through art. One of my greatest joys has been opening my own studio and gallery in California, where I create large-scale mixed-media works using plaster, paint, epoxy, glass, and found materials. I believe art is more than decoration—it has the power to influence how we feel, think, and experience the spaces around us. My goal is to create work that brings beauty, joy, and a sense of possibility into people's lives.
