About this artwork
“Berlin 88” composes an imaginary map of an urban memory, intertwining photographic fragments, signs and primary colours in a fractured and vibrant structure. The black lines that cross the work recall cracks, borders or wounds, evoking the historical tension of the city on the brink of change. The back technique on plexiglass restores depth and transparency, making the stratification of materials emerge as traces of an interior and collective narration.… Bodies, advertisements, architecture and words merge in a visual flow that tells the transformation. Berlin 88 is an act of poetic resistance to the linearity of time, an emotional archive that celebrates the complexity of experience through the free and sharp language of collage.
Maurizio Rosella, trained within the walls of the Uffizi, expresses himself through painting, installations and urban art. His techniques, such as reverse painting on glass or plexiglass, create an evocative barrier between artist and observer, conveying the depth of the soul. His works, full of conceptualism, arouse a sense of sophisticated alienation and introspection.
