My collage JUST WALKING BY explores hierarchy and envy among women. The dominance of the woman in high heels is emphasized by her oversized, central position. She conveys power, self-confidence, and social superiority. Symbolically, this represents a social and aesthetic hierarchy linked to status, attractiveness, and power. The other visible legs and feet of other women are depicted smaller, symbolizing their subordinate or competitive role in relation…
to the dominant figure. On the one hand, the collage visualizes an aesthetic staging; on the other, it also conveys social tensions. The potential rivalry between the depicted women is evident in my fragmented, complex, yet colorful composition. The viewer can delve into a multifaceted reflection on power, competition, and envy within the context of female self-image.
