"Mamma e' Papa mi ricordo" is a powerful artwork that illuminates the traumatic story of a woman who was sexually abused as a child within her family and could only confide in a diary. The diary, which disappeared after its discovery, is represented by her handprint and a key. The blank pages connect the diary to an unwritten, shattered future and simultaneously symbolize the discovery of truth. The blank pages represent lost memories and unspoken… stories, the key represents courage, disclosure, and the possibility of rewriting one's own history. At its heart is the remarkable strength of the survivor and the urgent message that healing is only possible through recognition, acknowledgment, and speaking the truth. The work is a plea for remembrance, justice, and personal reclaiming of one's own story.
Melanie Meyer, a self-taught artist, dedicates her work to the intensive exploration of human experience. Her sculptures and paintings express an emotional journey and focus particularly on the issue of sexual violence against children. Her art gives a voice to those affected worldwide, breaks taboos, demands justice, and serves as a testament to suffering and resilience. Driven by the search for humanity and the exploration of human existence, she creates multifaceted art that touches and inspires reflection. She sees her works as powerful instruments to bring light into an often dark world and to remind us of the inalienable nature of our humanity. She is currently seeking sponsors who share her vision to further develop her exhibition "Because what must not be cannot be," a memorial dedicated to the victims of sexual violence.
