The New York subway is considered a symbol of a city that never stands still. This moment is all the more unusual: an empty carriage, free from any hustle and bustle.
The central perspective and clean lines create an almost hypnotic depth. Light, geometry, and symmetry come to the fore, lending the functional space a surprising elegance.
Only in the absence of people does that silence arise, a silence rarely found in the subway. The carriage… becomes a place of concentration – reduced to architecture, light, and space.
For me, Subway is a photographic study of the beauty of the everyday. A fleeting moment in which one of New York's busiest places comes to rest for a moment.
